McDonald's bosses have hinted customers in Oxfordshire could be set to get their hands on a Big Mac without even having to leave the house.

The fast food chain has said it could make a delivery service available in the UK, United States, Canada, France and Germany - its five biggest markets.

And with thousands of people in the county living less than three miles from a McDonald's customers here could be well placed to take advantage of it.

Home delivery was mooted as the chain set out its long-term growth pans, partly centered on the 'rapid increase in delivery'.

The company said 75 per cent of people in its top five countries live less than three miles from a McDonald's branch, suggesting it is capable of delivering within this radius.

Branches in Cornmarket Street, London Road and Botley Road mean much of Oxford is within reach, as well as large parts of other towns such as Abingdon and Witney.

The chain already delivers burgers, fries and milkshakes to customers in China and Singapore.

Last year its restaurants in Didcot and London Road, Headington, introduced table service, which will also be extended to the revamped branch in Botley Road.
