STAFF at Chiltern Railways are celebrating after Oxford Parkway won the Station Excellence Award at the Rail Business Awards.
The station near Kidlington was opened by Chiltern Railways in October 2015, with services running to London Marylebone.
The station is close to the A44, A40 and A34, with over 900 parking spaces and has been marketed as an easily accessible alternative for commuters travelling to the capital.
In its first year of opening, 638,000 passengers used Oxford Parkway, on the first new rail link between a major British city and London in over 100 years.
Justin Baines, commercial director at Chiltern Railways, said: “It is a huge achievement for Oxford Parkway to win the Station Excellence Award at the prestigious Rail Business Awards.
“When we designed the station, we kept customers at the heart of our thinking and created a spacious station that brings staff and customers closer together.”
Mark Hopwood, managing director of Great Western Railway, won the Industry Leader award, while S&C South Alliance was highly commended for the Hinksey Flood Alleviation Scheme, in the Infrastructure Project Excellence Awards ,at the ceremony at the London Hilton hotel on Thursday night.
