TEN lucky children from a Blackbird Leys primary school rolled up their sleeves for a day of fitness, nutrition and pancake-flipping with Oxford United.

Youngsters from Windale Primary School spent the day at the U's training ground as part of the school's drive to encourage healthy eating and exercise among pupils.

The group, from Year 5 and 6, spent the day with team caterer Jon Kay and the players' personal nutritionist Jasmine Campbell before cooking their own pancakes with nutritious fillings and seeing them taste-tested by some of their footballing heroes in the canteen.

In the evening they were treated to a game at the Kassam Stadium and at half-time entertained crowds by taking part in a pancake race on the pitch itself.

Windale Primary School headteacher Katie Geran-Haq said: "We aim to promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle to all our pupils as part of our curriculum so we are delighted to be working with Oxford United in this way. We hope the children all take away some important lessons about nutrition and sports."
