TWO raiders armed with a machete kicked a man's front door in and stole his shotguns.

The victim was alone at the house in Station Road, Bampton, at 10.20pm on Sunday when he said a man knocked on his door.

He later told police he was on the phone, saw the man through the window, and did not answer.

About ten minutes later he said his front door was kicked in and the man, this time armed with a machete, 'demanded items'.

The intruder, who was white, wearing a scarf around his face and bright yellow running shoes was joined by a black man who was 6ft tall and had dreadlocks.

Police said the two raiders left with three stolen shotguns and gun cartridges and drove off in a small, dark-coloured hatchback car which had been parked nearby.

The victim was not hurt.

Det Insp Richard Pickering from Banbury Force CID said: "I understand the theft of these items may cause concern in the community but there is currently no information to suggest that the stolen items with be used in connection with a particular incident."
