WHAT a week for Oxford United.

We’ve made superb progress in the FA Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy, which has lifted everybody.

We have developed a reputation for beating clubs from higher up the pyramid and Saturday was another fantastic win.

The stadium was rocking and the Yellow Army really lifted the team who performed brilliantly – and the manner of the victory was first class.

Winning is a great habit and we did what we had to do to get past Bradford City on Tuesday. It puts us one step from Wembley, again.

Wembley is a superb incentive – everyone at United is ambitious and after losing the final last season, we would love to go one better this year.

Cup runs have helped the club considerably, financially. Broadly this week’s two wins have netted around £250,000.

We budget conservatively and didn’t account for cup runs, so it’s a significant bonus and will help us reduce the amount of capital required from our chairman.

We were delighted to sign Conor McAleny from Everton, on loan. We’ve monitored Conor for some time and believe he’ll make an impact.

We’ve also said goodbye to Ryan Taylor and Alex MacDonald, who were great pros and servants to the club.

Both players expressed their love for the club this week and the professionalism in which we operate, which is testament to the culture we’re building.

The anticipation ahead of Sunday is tangible.

The players know what our rivalry with Swindon means and everyone is looking forward to it.

COYY!
