LIFELONG Oxford United fan Ken Adams has urged former club chairman Firoz Kassam to break his silence over the club's future.

And he has urged the club to build a fourth stand following the team's sell-out 3-0 win against Newcastle United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

Last month U's chairman Darryl Eales said he was dismayed about the slow progress of talks involving fan's group OxVox and Mr Kassam's company Firoka, which owns the stadium, over the potential sale of the ground.

The United board warned that the current uncertainty could lead to the team playing elsewhere until it found a permanent new home and county council leader Ian Hudspeth flagged up Water Eaton near Kidlington as a possible location for a new stadium.

Mr Adams, 57, a builder from Chalgrove, who has been supporting the Yellows since the late 1970s when they played at the Manor Ground, said: "I don't want to see Oxford United move away from the Kassam - it's in an ideal location.

"When the stadium is full it is rocking but we do need a fourth stand - we could have filled a fourth stand for the FA Cup game against Newcastle.

"The big games will keep on coming and in the end the club will miss out on revenue if it does not build an extra stand - it will definitely need one in the Championship."

"I think it is time for Firoz Kassam to let fans know what is happening with these talks."

Mr Kassam has not returned the Oxford Mail's calls.
