DRIVERS suffered journey delays on their commutes this evening after three separate vehicle collisions during rush hour.

Traffic was slow on the A34 southbound following a three-car collision just before the Marcham interchange.

Thames Valley Police attended the scene of the incident, which happened at about 5pm.

Force spokesman James Williams said the collision was ‘damage only’.

It is understood no-one was seriously injured and the outside lane southbound was partially blocked to traffic for about an hour, which slowed down the journeys of vehicles travelling towards north Abingdon.

Meanwhile, Thames Valley Police’s roads policing department said they attended another three-vehicle crash on the A34 northbound between Weston-on-the-Green and junction 9 of the M40.

At about 5.30pm, the force said it sent officers to the scene.

They added nobody was injured in the incident but they needed to clear the scene before the road was fully reopened, with the vehicles recovered.

Earlier in the evening, at about 4.30pm, both South Central Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A40 near Barnard Gate, Witney, in an eastbound direction.

Ambulance spokesman David Gallagher said it was a minor collision and added one patient was checked over and treated at the scene of the incident.

Traffic was also heavy on the A40 between Eynsham and Cassington.
