A FURNITURE store in Oxford had to be evacuated this afternoon after a blackout and a strong smell of smoke was reported.
Fire crews were first called at around 2.30pm to the Dunelm furniture store at the Meadowside Retail Park off Botley Road.
One member of staff said that there was a strong smell of smoke coming from the toilets when the power was first cut.
The store re-opened by 3.40pm but the toilets and coffee shop remained shut while firefighters investigated the problem.
Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service later said it was a false alarm.
