FESTIVE joy was all around at a Christmas dinner put on by volunteers.
There was lashings of tasty food and a cheery atmosphere at the King’s Centre, where Oxford Food Bank held its event for families and members of the community.
Food bank user Chris Bussell, pictured centre, said on the day: “Everyone is chatting and drinking away and the place looks fantastic, like a five-star restaurant.
“It’s a really brilliant Christmas present.”
Renate Mathers, who gave up her time to help prepare the meal with daughter Sandra Mathers and other volunteers, said: “There’s just the two of us and this year we wanted to do something less self-indulgent.
“We’ve really enjoyed helping out and will definitely be coming back next year.”
There was also entertainment at the dinner including dancing and music.
Clothing and Christmas gifts were also handed out to homeless people and families.
Among those who joined the festivities were Syrians granted asylum in the city.
