A RIBBON was cut to mark the opening of a new supermarket in Didcot.
Wantage Road is now home to Sainsbury's Local and the town's favourite fundraiser Andy Baker was on hand to help with proceedings.
Store manager Paul Haste said: "As the new store manager of the Didcot Local, I am extremely proud to be opening our new store.
"Colleagues and I have been looking forward to welcoming our new customers and showcasing the great range of products we have on offer."
During the opening on Thursday, visitors stepped into the 2,863sq ft of retail area to admire the new addition.
Jo Wood, a Sainsbury's employee, added: "It is exciting to be part of a brand new Sainsbury’s store, I am looking forward to being part of a customer focussed team, providing great quality products straight to the heart of the local community."
As part of Sainsbury’s on going Community Spirit Programme, Sainsbury’s and CTS Shopfitting Ltd contributed towards equipment for The Oxford Children’s Hospital.
The £1,000 contribution will help purchase TV stands for the youngsters staying in over Christmas.
It will also help pay for reclining chairs to be used in ‘Tom’s Ward’ by parents staying with unwell babies.
