REGULARS and staff from a Woodstock pub are hoping to top the Christmas charts with their tipsy rendition of a festive classic.

The group from the Woodstock Arms, led by landlord Owain Llwyd Jones, indulged in a few drinks on Sunday night before filming an enthusiastic performance of Jingle Bells.

Mr Jones (pictured in the video below), who began running the pub nine months ago, said he had his sights on MTV – adding that the group would release an album after they hit the big time.

He said: “It was brilliant. We had a few tequilas and a few beers and nobody was shy any more.

Oxford Mail:

“I think we can get on MTV. We’re trying to push it out to the radio stations. This is our one moment.

“We have such a lovely community here in Woodstock and everyone was excited to be there. It was so much fun – and from what I remember it turned out fantastic. It’s got everybody in the mood for the silly season.”

The music video was put together with help from two talented residents, Joe Taylor and Marc Canham.

Mr Taylor, who handled the filming, runs his own video production company Sweetsoda. Mr Canham, a music producer who has worked on films, took care of the sound.

Mr Jones continued: “We’re very lucky here in that some of our regulars are very talented people. Joe and Marc are both legends – and I’m not sure they would like to be credited with this.

“The whole thing looks absolutely fantastic until we start singing.”

As for the landlord himself, Mr Jones said he has been looking for a platform to launch him into superstardom.

He said: “I want to be a superstar.

“I’ve got everything it takes and all I need is a platform.

“Also, there hasn’t been a good Christmas release since East 17 so we thought we’d give it a go.”
