IT was a magical night for one young girl after she won a competition that saw her transform into her favourite fairytale princess.

Six-year-old Lilijana Radulovic turned into Cinderella for a day, and even took a ride in her carriage – though it is not known whether it had been turned from a pumpkin by magic spell, for the occasion.

The Charlton Primary School pupil won a competition to ride in the carriage at Didcot Christmas Street Fair, after her mum, Toni who suffers from primary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS), nominated her for helping her with daily tasks.

Mrs Radulovic said: "I have had MS for 13 years and I have been wheelchair bound since Lilijana was born.

"I struggle with many every day tasks but my life is made so much easier by this very brave and kind six-year-old.

"She is my little helper, she helps me with dressing, cooking and tidying.

"She never refuses to help me with things and she enables me to do many other things that I would otherwise be unable to do."

The family, who live in Wantage, had taken a recent trip to Disneyworld where Lilijana was able to meet her heroine in person and get a matching outfit, which she wore to the parade.

Mrs Radulovic added: "She was ever so excited when she found out she would be in the carriage, she loves Cinderella.

"Some lovely ladies at Reflections hair salon in Didcot did her hair and make up before she went out there.

"She was brilliant during the parade and just waved to everybody the whole time.

"I was so proud of her, a lot of people can't quite believe the work she does to help me but for her it is just normal, I've always been like this."

Jeanette Howse, chairwoman of Didcot Events, said that they wanted to do something a bit different to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the event.

She said: "We did do something similar right at the very beginning of when the street fair was gaining momentum.

"But I wanted to bring it back this year as a way of making it extra special.

"We couldn't have asked for a better Cinderella on the night, she was wonderful and I know it meant a lot to her and her family.

"Her mum, Toni's nomination was so lovely and we couldn't quite believe how helpful Lilijana was at such a young age."

Lilijana was also joined by some other famous faces at the parade including Batman, Father Christmas and former boy band member of The Wanted, Tom Parker.

The street fair will be back next year and to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2018, Mrs Howse hopes Didcot Events will be able to put on a Winter Wonderland spectacular.
