ELDERLY residents of a Witney care home took the town by storm for the annual Christmas lights switch on event.

More than 20 residents and employees from Madley Park House took to the centre of town on Friday, November 25, as part of a new community integration venture.

The team at the home, part of The Orders of St John Care Trust, has identified a number of opportunities throughout this year and next to build community relations which will benefit residents and the community.

The evening was made possible by organisers, the Rotary Club of Witney and the Witney Lions Club, who provided an area in the Corn Exchange, run by the Witney Town Council, for residents to watch the proceedings.

Joining the residents was the mayor of Witney, Chris Holliday, and his deputy, Chris Woodward. Witney MP Robert Courts also called into the Corn Exchange to chat with some of the residents.

Mr Holliday said: “It is important to maintain good community links and an occasion like this is a great opportunity for people to come together for an evening of celebration."

Staff from the care home thanked the Witney Rotary and Lions Clubs, Mr Courts, Mr Holliday and Chris Woodward.
