THE county council in Oxfordshire is holding a public consultation on the design and plans for the Eynsham park and ride and A40 bus lane scheme.

The council proposed the £54m project, which would see extra lanes on the stretch between Witney and Eynsham as well as a westbound bus lane from Oxford to Eynsham, in May this year.

The proposals, which would start sometime in the early 2020s, would combine with previously agreed plans to build a park and ride at Eynsham and an eastbound bus lane from there to Oxford.

A number of exhibitions will be held on the proposals throughout West Oxfordshire.

Residents can see the plans at Cassington Village Hall between 11am and 3pm on Tuesday, December 6; at Witney Methodist Church between 12 and 4pm on Saturday, December 10; and in St Leonard's Church, in Eynsham, between 12.30 and 7pm on Thursday, December 15.

If residents are unable to attend the consultation, they can view the plans and have their say online by visiting visiting oxfordshire.gov.uk/A40eynshamparkandrideconsultation and filling out the online questionnaire.

The consultation closes on the January 12, and it will be available from December 1.

The A40 is used by up to 30,000 vehicles every day and according to previous figures from the county council.
