A spectacular fireworks display will help a children's charity take a step in the right direction.

The second annual event in Dorchester, near Wallingford, on Saturday, will benefit Footsteps Foundation, which provides vital aid to children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders.

Foundation Manager Maggie Davies said: “Last year was the first year and it really surpassed all our expectations.

“We were warned that we might not make any money and we made over £1,000.

“For a little village display it was very impressive – it went on for ages and was top quality.

We estimated roughly 800 people attended, including children of course.”

The show, organised by volunteers in the village, takes place at the Recreation Ground, from 5.30pm.

Entrance is by donation to Footsteps Foundation, which relies solely on donations to provide its services.

Ms Davies continued: “We help more than 100 disabled children in their quest to walk using intensive physiotherapy.”

Neurological conditions, like cerebral palsy, can cause muscle impairment and other disabilities including communication and learning difficulties.

Footsteps Foundation provides support with a wide range of staff and equipment to ‘enable disabled children to reach their full potential’.
