TOMORROW will be the last chance for residents to have their say on the multi-million pound plans to transform East Oxford Community Centre.

Redevelopment options were initially unveiled earlier this month at an exhibition at the Princes Street centre.

It comes after the council said it is facing "increasingly expensive" repair bills at the centre and has just £670,000 to invest.

Councillor Christine Simm said she wanted to quash rumours the council planned to demolish the centre.

She added: "We are really looking to make an improvement at the community centre: we think there is a high need for high quality community facilities in this part of the city.

"I think the potential is huge – this is a very important part of the city where lots of people live.

"I want to make sure that when people come to their local community centre it is fit for purpose, welcoming, and that people can see the potential for all sort of activities which can take place here.

"That's the long-term dream but we are going to listen to what people put to us."

Its feasibility study claimed the most viable option was a £2.3m redevelopment which would see the old school building refurbished and the building which houses charity Fusion Arts remodelled to create new space.

A two-storey building would also be constructed next to the charity's building with new film and recording studios, offices and community space.
