POLICE believe five or six men were involved in the attack of a man who remains in hospital with serious head injuries.
No arrests have been since a 47-year-old man was kicked off his bike in High Street, Oxford.
Today, the force said they were in the process of gathering CCTV footage of the assault as part of their ongoing investigation.
Between 11.30pm and 11.45pm on Tuesday the victim was kicked off his bike by a group of men while cycling toward the Magdalen Bridge. The man fell from his bicycle onto the tarmac and sustained serious head injuries.
The gang of men then left the scene and witnesses contacted the ambulance service.
The victim was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headington where he remained last night.
Police officers cordoned off an area of the road outside University Church of St Mary the Virgin following the assault and forensic teams gathered evidence into bags.
Thames Valley Police Detective Chief Inspection Lis Knight said: "This incident has left the victim with serious injuries."
Anyone who has any information should contact police on 101, quoting URN 283 26/10.
Detectives are yet to establish whether the GBH incident was a random attack.
