A BABY is among three people taken to hospital after a multi-car pile-up outside the Oxford Road police station.

At least three cars appear to have been involved in the incident and six adults, which happened at just before 1pm.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing one car cross to the wrong side of the road and plough into oncoming traffic.

Oxford Mail:

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman David Gallagher said: "It appears two cars and a cyclist were involved and in total there were six adults and one child.

"Four patients were treated and discharged at the scene.

"Three further patients are injured, one is a baby but we have no details about the level of injury but they have all been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

"Of those patients taken to hospital one female has a leg injury and one other patient has a neck injury."

Police confirmed at least two cars are involved and said officers are at the scene.

Oxford Road was closed at the junction with Between Towns Road but has now reopened.

Ambulances at the scene of the crash.

Nearby resident Carol Gibb was in her car close behind when the crash happened, she said: " I did not see it happen but heard the crash.

"It looked like a car had come down the hill, collided with a cyclist and gone across the road into oncoming traffic.

"The car just looked like it disintegrated, the wheel had come off and the axle was left in the middle of the road.

"They need to do something with this road to make it safer.

"I have lived her for 19 years and seen accidents happen so many times.

"I have made complaints before, because it shouldn't have to take something like a fatality to get something done."
