PUPILS at a Bicester primary have packed a punch for their harvest festival by donating boxes to the local foodbank.

The youngsters at Langford Village Primary School in Peregrine Way have packed treats such as tins, jars and teabags.

The feast of foodie delights were handed over by the pupils on Monday to Bicester Foodbank which is based in Market Square.

Bicester foodbank founder Janet Ray said: "I would like to say a big thank you to the school for its donation.

"At the moment they are the top school for its harvest collection although we do have a few more coming.

"We really do rely on harvest festivals.

"It helps us stock up for the winter for people coming in that need the food."

Ms Ray joined the children for an assembly in which schoolchildren were taught about the harvest season.

The harvest festival assembly talked about the annual celebrations that occur during the season to mark the time when crops are ripe and ready to be picked.

Bicester Foodbank takes in many harvest collections at this time of year to help provide food to vulnerable families in the area who need support.

Donations of food or as cash can be dropped in to the foodbank.
