A water leak caused problems for motorists at Botley Road today.
The leak, near the junction of Mill Street, was spotted earlier this morning at around 11.30am.
Water was gushing from a displaced section of road when passers-by noticed the problem.
The same section of road was closed for three days in September after Thames Water were forced to dig up the road to repair another leak there.
Thames Water spokesperson Stuart White said: "We are aware of the leak on Botley Road and have a team going out to investigate.
"It's on a busy road so unless it’s causing a safety issue the repair will be planned for the evening to reduce traffic disruption."
The water firm later said it would begin the emergency repair work at 8pm this evening.
