As a former member of the bands Joy Division and New Order Peter Hook has a wealth of stories of life in the fast lane of rock & roll. Now he has decided to spill the beans in a lurid account of his life in the music industry.
He shared some of those stories with fans in Oxford on Saturday, when he dropped into the Fopp record store, in Gloucester Green, to sign copies of his new book, Substance: Inside New Order.
Hook, who was also involved with Manchester's notorious Hacienda nightclub, famously fell out with his New Order bandmates and now tours with his own band Peter Hook and The Light.
The bassist, who had success in New Order with tunes such as Blue Monday, True Faith and Temptation, admitted he was pulling no punches with his colourful book. He said: "It is The most complete and truthful record of life inside New Order as is humanly possible, by a daft lad from Salford.
"It's a good read, but is definitely 18-plus."
