A driver had a lucky escape after his car ploughed headlong into the stone wall of a pub late last night.

At 8.40pm on Thursday a driver left the road on the A44 between Chipping Norton and Moreon-in-Marsh and collided with the Greedy Goose Public House.

One pump from Chipping Norton Fire Station was sent out and the driver was quickly rescued.

Station Manager Dave Bray, who attended the incident, said “The driver had a very lucky escape, managing to avoid serious injury having driven into a substantial stone built building.”

The car caused the displacement of an external wall into the kitchen of the pub and there were no injuries from staff.

The driver escaped with minor injuries from bruising.
