Oxford United’s trip to the Brookes Fresher’s Fair was so successful the club has decided to put on a bus from the university to the Kassam Stadium next month.

U’s players and staff spent the day at the Headington campus on Friday to meet new students in the city and discuss how to attract more of them to matches.

United said the “overwhelming” answer was better transport links between direct to the Kassam from campus.

Ahead of Oxford United’s home game against Bradford City on October 15 a special Brookes bus, courtesy of Oxford Bus Company, will take students from Gipsy Lane to Grenoble Road at 2.05pm for just £1 each way.

Students who picked up a flyer at the Freshers' Fair will be able to enjoy a free breakfast at the Wig and Pen in George Street on the day of the game before catching the number 3A to the Kassam.

A number of students will hold discussions with the club over how to further establish links between the two.

Through these talks there will be the chance for some students to work for the club in the commercial or communications department throughout the season.

More than 400 students signed up for a draw to win a home or away shirt at the event - the eventual winners were Cameron McGeogh and James Heal.
