OXFORD Brookes University, Oxford Train Station and Oxford Bus Company: all familiar landmarks in our city, but have you ever wondered what goes on behind the facades?

Oxford photographer Peter Grant obtained VIP access to go behind the scenes of these city institutions to see how they function.

He is now exhibiting the revealing and sometimes surprising results of his investigations at Oxford Town Hall in a show which he calls Unseen Oxford.

The 29-year-old, who works part-time as an engineer, admitted he was partly driven by a desire to go through the "staff only" doors of familiar businesses.

He said: "As an engineer, I have always been interested in how things work, including companies.

"If people get on a train or a bus, they take it for granted and just get off.

"The number of people behind the scenes who work for that bus to turn up do not get the recognition they deserve."

The exhibition is now on show at the Museum of Oxford at Oxford Town Hall until September 29.

The museum is open every day from 10am to 4.30pm and the exhibition is free to enter.
