WHILE storm clouds gathered over Brize Norton over the weekend, just a few days later PhD student Cameron Higgins enjoys the sun in South Parks.

The difference between Saturday's thunderstorms and yesterday's scorching sunshine could not be greater and the weather is set to stay good for the rest of the week.

Photographer Mark Bentley captured the spectacular skies of West Oxfordshire while he was out and about on Saturday.

Low-hanging black clouds in front of the amber sky were a warning of things to come as Brize Norton, like much of the rest of Oxfordshire, was battered by heavy rain, hailstones, thunder and lightning.

In Oxford hailstones the size of golfballs set off car alarms and smashed windows.

But by Tuesday, the weather had a summery feel once again, following on from a sunny Bank Holiday Monday.

The Met Office predicts temperatures will hit a high of 21C today in the city, with the mercury staying around the 20C mark until Monday.

No rain is forecast and daytime temperatures should not dip below 13C at the lowest.

A Met Office forecaster said: "On Wednesday patchy mist or fog will quickly clear before cloud and occasional light rain or drizzle arrives by the afternoon.

"Some sunny spells will develop again into the evening.

"Thursday and early Friday will be dry and warm with sunny spells.

"Showers are possible later on Friday.

"It will be dry at first on Saturday although turning breezy with showers or rain likely through the afternoon."
