A WOMAN in her 60s was rushed to hospital from her home this morning after colleagues raised concerns when she did not turn up to work.

South Central Ambulance Service said it was called to the woman's home in Field Avenue, Blackbird Leys, at 9.23am with fears for her welfare after she did not show up for her job.

Ambulance service spokesman David Gallagher said: "Police attended the address because a housing officer had arrived at the residence following concerns that the patient hadn’t turned up for work, but the housing officer was unable to access the property unless police were there.

"Once property accessed the incident was confirmed as a medical emergency and we took the patient to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford."

Field Avenue was briefly blocked while paramedics got the woman out of her house into a waiting ambulance.

Stagecoach Oxford buses briefly took alternative routes.

It is the second time in 12 hours that paramedics have been called to a fear-for-welfare incident in the same road.

Mr Gallagher said the ambulance service was also called to Field Avenue at 10.24pm last night and ended up taking one patient to a mental health unit in London.
