THE Oxford Playhouse is finally ready to take flight after completing its six-week makeover.
Builders and staff have been pulling out all the stops to get the new-look auditorium ready ahead of its grand opening tonight.
Chief executive Louise Chantal said it was "surreal" to finally see the seating completed.
She added: "I think it looks beautiful and everyone who has seen it has agreed so far.
"The place was looking very tired as it's been 20 years since the last refurbishment."
The theatre has spent the last two years trying to raise £800,000 as part of the project, and although the revamp has been paid for, staff still need about £100,000 to help pay for future shows.
Tonight the auditorium is set to be packed for the opening of Peter Pan in Scarlet, a flying tale of adventure based on the novel by Geraldine McCaughrean.
Ms Chantal added: "It really is amazing. When I saw this production in Stoke-on-Trent it was everything I wanted it to be.
"It is original and it has a great story."
Tonight's performance begins at 7pm, with tickets available from the box office.
