A "family man" arrested in one of a series of dawn raids across Oxfordshire has been jailed for a total of five years.

Vishal Nazar, of Danvers Road in Oxford, was tracked by police for months before being arrested in August last year as part of Operation Raise.

The 37-year-old later admitted three charges of conspiracy to supply class B drugs mephedrone- also known as Meow Meow- and ketamine, as well as one charge of possessing ketamine with intent to supply.

Today at Oxford Crown Court he was sentenced to five years in prison for each charge, to run concurrently.

Ciaran Macdonagh, who was involved in the operation as a drugs courier, admitted one charge of conspiracy to supply a class B drug, one count of possessing a class A drug and one count of possessing a class B.

The 38-year-old was sentenced at the same court to a total of 19 months in jail suspended for two years.

The court heard that between June 2014 and January 2015 Nazar made regular visits to a money exchange bureau in London to send money abroad.

He was also seen giving bags and boxes to another man, Darren Stagg, who was later stopped by police carrying 26kg of Meow Meow with an estimated street value of £500,000 in his car.

Alistair Grainger, representing Nazar, said he had become involved in the scheme due to "stupidity and foolishness" and a desire to "better himself."

Graham Bennett, representing Macdonagh, said his client had got into debt as a result of his drug habit and had becoming involved to try and pay off his arrears.

Sentencing Nazar, Judge Ian Pringle said: "What you did was extremely valuable to this operation."
