The widow of a former chairman of West Oxfordshire Conservative Association is among those reported to be on David Cameron's controversial resignation honours list.

As a former Prime Minister Mr Cameron, who remains MP for Witney, is entitled to nominate people to receive honours- such as knighthoods- from the Queen.

But his list, which has reportedly been leaked to a number of newspapers including The Sunday Times and the Daily Mail, has been criticised for "cronyism" after a number of his close allies and EU Remain campaigners were put forward.

Today the Daily Mail reported Nicola Shale, the widow of former West Oxfordshire Conservative Association chairman Christopher Shale, is in line to be made an MBE.

Mr Shale died in 2011 and his wife is involved in a not-for-profit project to build a cricket ground in the African country of Rwanda.

Property developer Tony Gallagher, a member of the so-called Chipping Norton set, is also said to be on the list.

Other nominees are reported to include Samantha Cameron's stylist Isabel Spearman and Will Straw, son of former Labour MP Jack Straw and leader of the Remain campaign.
