POLICE have released a photo of a man who is wanted in connection with a burglary.

Alan Campbell, aged 42, of no fixed abode, is wanted in connection with a burglary which happened near North Moor Lock in Appleton between January 7 and 13 this year.

Outbuildings which were used for storage were broken into, but nothing was stolen.

Investigating officer Det Sgt Aiden Donohoe based at Abingdon police station, said: "We are seeking the public’s help to locate Alan Campbell in relation to an offence of burglary.

"We are also keen to speak to him in relation to a series of thefts from moored boats in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse areas.

"Campbell is known to frequent the local canals and will walk along the tow paths.

"He may be sleeping rough in the area and was seen by a member of the public on a canal path close to Abingdon on 17 July.

"He has previously travelled around the UK. We would ask people who regularly use the canal paths for walking or cycling to be aware of him and if seen to contact us immediately.

"We do not believe that Campbell poses a threat to the wider public, however we would ask that if you do see him you call 101 as soon as possible.

"If there is any immediate danger, or a crime is taking place, always call 999."

Anyone with information should call 101.
