THE leader of Blackbird Leys Parish Council has said he was "very disappointed" with turnout at training sessions for two brand new defibrillators installed in the area.

Gordon Roper said he was "disgusted" with the amount of money spent when "not one person from the community" turned up to the session on Monday, July 4.

Earlier this year the council bought two of the electronic devices, which can save the life of someone going into cardiac arrest, at a cost of £1,600 each and had them installed outside Blackbird Leys Community Centre and The Barn in Nightingale Avenue.

They can be deployed by someone without training but the event with South Central Ambulance Service was aimed at making people feel more confident.
