OXFORD is a worse place to work than Glasgow, Reading, Swindon or Cambridge according to a new study.

The city has today been ranked 17th in a list based on how easy it is to get a job, affordability of housing and employee satisfaction.

Our sister university city Cambridge, meanwhile, came out on top of the league table compiled by jobs site Glassdoor.

And a slew of job opportunities in industrial and northern cities has meant that London has been pushed off the top 20 of this year's list.

Glassdoor chief economist Andrew Chamberlain said: "Cambridge has long had a reputation for one of Britain's most loved cities, but now it's emerged as a prime spot for high-tech companies which is clearly having an impact on where people decide to live and work."
