POLICE are hunting for information after two robbers broke a woman's arm and assaulted a man in separate Oxford attacks.

A 42-year-old woman from Littlemore was approached by men in a black car who stopped and asked for directions at 1.10am on Tuesday morning, before snatching her bag from her arm.

In a desperate attempt to claw it back, the victim was dragged alongside their car as they fled the scene in Long Road, Littlemore, and broke her arm.

Earlier that morning two men in a black car also stopped a 20-year-old man in Long Road, Jericho, to ask for directions into the city centre.

They then grabbed the victim and tried to haul him inside the car, before demanding money and attacking him.

The man managed to escape their clutches as the car drove away towards Walton Street.

Thames Valley Police appealed for information this morning and said they believe the robberies were linked and committed by the same people.

Det Sgt Ian D'angeli of Oxford CID said: “We are working to identify the perpetrators and are appealing for witnesses to both incidents and sightings of the black vehicle, as well as any identification of the offenders.

“This was clearly a very frightening and traumatic experience for the two victims and we are keen to locate the individuals involved at the earliest opportunity.”

Two 20-year-old men from Didcot were arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed until August 3.

Anyone with information can call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
