AN EXHIBITION put together by artists with mental health problems to raise awareness has been launched at Oxford Town Hall.
Eighteen artists have produced pieces inspired by or depicted mental health issues which have been collated by Oxford-based group AIMS and London organisation Mental Spaghetti.
All the artists – nine from Oxford and nine from London – have been through, or are going through, mental health problems.
Jason Randall, from North Oxford, who has bipolar disorder, said the experience was overwhelmingly positive. He said: "It gives artists, who wouldn't normally be able to exhibit, the platform to get their work seen.
"It also raises awareness of mental health problems which I think is really important.
"All the artists are suffering from some of mental health problems and it's great to bring everyone together and bring people from Oxford and London together."
Mr Randall said his two paintings and sculpture showed the feelings of mental health and in particular represented the effects medication can have.
The What Goes on in the Mind exhibition will be previewed today between 2pm and 4pm in Town Hall and will run until July 4.
