PARENTS in the Blackbird Leys area have been alerted by one of the local schools after a man tried to photograph an 11-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on the afternoon Wednesday, June 8 in Gillians Park, off Primrose Place.

The girl was approached by a man wearing white overalls and brown shoes both with paint on them, who asked to take a photo of her.

Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams said the report had come in at about 4.34pm from a member of the public.

He added: "We are investigating the incident and have conducted extra patrols and searches in the area."

The following day a text was sent around to all parents at Pegasus Primary School warning parents that there had been "two incidents" of a man approaching children in the park. School manager Jane Caffyn confirmed the school had sent the text after being alerted by a local parent. No information was available on the second incident.

The man is described as white, of medium build and in his thirties or forties. Anyone with any information should call Thames Valley Police via the 101 number.
