WOMEN and girls living in or around the Leys are being called on to try out boxing for the first time at Oxford's longest-running club.
The Blackbird Leys Boxing Club has been running for 55 years but this year was the first that a girl, 11-year-old Emily Kenny, fought on its behalf in a proper bout.
At present the club has about 40 junior and senior members and is offering would-be female fighters the chance of a free first session.
