NO task is too great for Ella Pickard in her role as one of Oxfordshire's first modern-day concierges.

While she is used to supporting events for the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, she tackles everything from holiday planning to flooded basements.

Her new firm, Organisation Unlimited, specialises in administrative and online assistance for businesses but also offers lifestyle, events and home concierge services.

Miss Pickard stressed that it was not only the wealthy who would benefit from a business or lifestyle concierge.

The former event organiser from Benson, near Wallingford, said: "One client called me the other day when his basement filled up with water.

"Customers use us for everything from planning holidays to wedding and event planning, as well as outsourcing administrative tasks.

"The key to being a concierge is giving our clients the flexibility to have the support they require, when and where they require it."

Miss Pickard added that a lot of 30 somethings who have grown up in the digital age had been getting in touch.

She added: "There are lots of commuters living in South Oxfordshire and some of them are now my clients but I market myself not to the spectacularly wealthy but to the time-poor."

Miss Pickard said projects she worked on could be very varied, with customers including 'high-network' individuals, small businesses and families.

The 40-year-old said Organisation Unlimited has been launched at the right time, after a YouGov study last year revealed that 33 per cent of British workers couldn’t take their annual leave allowance because their workload was too heavy.

While relatively new to Oxfordshire, the concierge industry has boomed worldwide with revenue at $220 million in 2012.

Miss Pickard, who works with Devon-based Sarah Newton, added: "We are constantly bombarded with information and communication and it has become harder than ever to balance work and personal life.

"There has never been more pressure to be the best at work as well as super-human parents and friends.

"A skilled concierge – business or lifestyle – gives clients a break from all that pressure by providing a reliable, proactive and very professional extra pair of hands."

Personal concierges however started to rise to popularity about 20 years ago.

Organisation Unlimited offers services from project managing renovations, travel arrangements or wedding planning, as well as taking care of simple errands such as taking deliveries or personal gift shopping.

Ten hours of administration a month could could the client £250, but prices vary depending on the nature of the task.

Miss Pickard added: "An unbalanced work schedule can easily make you feel like there just aren’t enough hours in a day.

"Businesses and individuals can seek to balance the demands of work and personal commitments, allowing them the opportunity to focus on their goals and to have better control, thereby boosting their productivity and reducing the pressure of day-to-day life.

"The best concierges are always providing solutions and are creative thinkers."
