A teenage boy hit by a van near Cheney School in Gipsy Lane, Headington, suffered a head injury.

Police were called to the scene at 3.39pm yesterday following the incident and the boy was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital by paramedics.

South Central Ambulance spokesman David Gallagher said the teenager did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

He said: "The patient was a 13-year-old boy who was fully conscious and breathing at the scene and had an isolated head injury - ie not life-threatening."

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Connie Primmer said officers attended the incident and added that the van stopped at the scene.
