A BOOK fair which should have attended by murdered Oxford art dealer Adrian Greenwood attracted hundreds of visitors over the weekend.

The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association Oxford book fair hosted dozens of stalls in its first year at Oxford Brookes's campus in Wheatley following its move from the university's Headington base.

Antique and book dealer Mr Greenwood was found dead on April 7 at his Iffley Road home having suffered multiple stab wounds.

Michael Danaher from Peterborough in Cambridgeshire has been charged with murdering him and is set to face trial in October.

Book fair manager Tom Lintern-Mole said Mr Greenwood's absence made the fair a poignant occasion.

The 29-year-old said: "He should have been here this year, he sent me a message before he died to say that he was coming.

"It is really sad for me as a friend but also for the book-selling trade.

"He encouraged me to get into the trade and he always had a joke or a comment to make you smile."

The fair, which ran on Saturday and Sunday, moved from Headington this year due to renovations taking place at its previous venue.

Mr Lintern-Mole said feedback had been positive from visitors, who appreciated not having to battle city traffic.

He said: "This is a great opportunity for book lovers from Oxford, Reading, Swindon and the Midlands to handle the books.

"I sell a lot by catalogue but if you exhibit at book fairs it means you can meet the customer and chat to other dealers."
