CHILDREN'S hospital charity Play2Give has announced its annual charity football tournament will be held this year at Oxford City Football Club on Sunday, July 3.

This six-a side contest will once again raise funds for Oxford Children's Hospital and brain injury charity Headway Oxfordshire.

This year's tournament is open to adult teams, particularly corporate teams, but community teams are also welcome.

Play2Give founder Andrew Baker said: "The emphasis of the contest is to raise as much money as possible for these two wonderful local causes.

"Play2Give, which I founded in 2007, has donated more than £47,000 to a range of local charities, including more than £37,000 to the Oxford Children’s Hospital – of which P2G is committed to achieving a grand £40,000."

In November, the charity won the Best Fundraising Award at the Didcot Business and Community Awards 2015.

Mr Baker added: "We are particularly well famous in Oxfordshire for our football tournaments, which began as a men's tournaments, and have now become firmly established in the annual calendar as a children-helping-children in hospital fixture.

"However this year, for one year only, we are allowing companies and adult teams to enter in order to raise as many thousands of pounds as possible."
