McDonald's has confirmed no members of staff were injured when a cash point in Headington was "blown up" on Saturday.
Police say they are still investigating the theft from the ATM by the McDonald's on the A40 ring road roundabout and no arrests have been made.
A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Luckily no members of staff were injured and the restaurant did not sustain any damage.
"We are co-operating fully with the police in their enquiries and are supporting the staff who were on site at the time of the incident.”
It is not known how much money was stolen or how many people were involved in the raid.
Employees from the McDonald's outlet said debris from the "explosion" at 5am hit the railings of the nearby road.
Employee Matthew Green said: "I just got told it got blown up just before five in the morning.
"One of my colleagues saw a white car drive away."

Spokeswoman Hannah Jones said: "Thames Valley Police was called at around 5am today to a report that money had been stolen from a cash machine near McDonalds restaurant in London Road, Headington.
"Officers attended and we are investigating the theft. No one has been arrested at this stage and McDonalds is open as normal.
"Anyone with any information should call police on 101."
