NURSING students from Oxford Brookes University have organised two fun runs on Saturday, April 23 in aid of local health charities.

The five kilometre runs will be held at the university's Harcourt Hill campus and the university's Swindon campus to mark 125 years of nurse education at Brookes.

The Oxford run will begin at 9am from Brookes Sport Botley and is being organised by volunteers and sport enthusiasts.

Students and members of the public alike can take part for free but participants at the Oxford event are asked to make a donation to mental health charity Oxfordshire Mind.

Organiser Richard Adu Gyamfi, a nursing student, said: “I came up with the idea of a fun run led by students which both students and staff could get involved in along with anyone in other health disciplines.

"We decided to make it a fundraising event and raise money for Oxfordshire Mind, this is because as adult nursing students we are more likely to come across mental health-related issues than any other, so it is something close to our hearts.

“We are all looking forward to the run on Saturday and would encourage everyone to come along on the day and cheer us on."
