The A44 is still closed in both directions and emergency services on site after a minibus caught fire earlier this evening.

The vehicle caught fire some time before 6.30pm in Yarnton Lane. The A44 Woodstock Road has since closed with traffic queueing back to the A4260 Frieze Way.

The incident, initially thought to be a house fire, is also causing very heavy delays on the A34 at Kidlington.

Stagecoach has tweeted that its S3 service is being diverted due to the incident.

Police spokesman James Turner said officers were called to the scene at 6.13pm and were still there at 8.30pm.

He said: "I can confirm there has been an incident with a minibus on fire.

"Everybody is out of the bus with no injuries.

"We have got a road closure in the interests of public safety. It is burnt-out, but elements of it will have leaked onto the highway so we have to make sure that it's safe.

"There is nothing to suggest there are any suspicious circumstances at the moment."

Twitter user Jordan Morris, who drove past the incident at about 6.15pm, said: "I was heading in towards Oxford and came over the bridge and there [was] what looked to be van on fire...traffic was going slow past but the flame got worse".

A staff member at nearby pub The Turnpike in Yarnton Lane said: "I can't see anything, but the traffic is standing.

"There were lots of fire trucks going by, then police cars and an ambulance."
