IMPRESSIONIST and comedian Rory Bremner will be opening Oxfordshire's first ADHD and autism centre.

The star of Bremner, Bird and Fortune, who has spoken about his struggles with ADHD and is patron of the ADHD Foundation, will be cutting the ribbon at the Oxford ADHD Centre on Tuesday.

Bremner will be joined by the centre's founder Dr Polly Branney and the Lord Mayor of Oxford Rae Huddleston for the official opening at the centre in Windmill Road, Headington.

Dr Branney had to wait six years for her son Olly to be formally diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and Asperger’s syndrome, at the age of 12.

Now the 48-year-old from Kidlington has set up the county’s first dedicated clinic offering private diagnosis, treatment and support for adults and children who have ADHD and autism, the Oxford ADHD Centre.

Dr Branney said she did not want other parents to go through the long, difficult and stressful experience she and Olly had.

She added: "Diagnosis is only the first step of the journey for those living with ADHD or autism.

"Through the Centre we aim to deliver ongoing support to help improve the lives of our patients and their families."
