Police have rescued a man from a roof following an incident which closed Hythe Bridge Street in Oxford today.
Officers directed pedestrians and traffic after closing the street near the junction with George Street.
Traffic approaching Frideswide Square also faced delays after police closed off the square.
The cordon has now been lifted.
Thames Valley Police spokesman James Williams said: "We were called to Hythe Bridge Street at 11.53am to a fear for welfare incident involving a man.
"The man is now safe."
The building involved was Oxford University's finance department, formerly used by Blackwell's.

A member of staff from Kwik Fit said a man had been on top of the building for at least 45 minutes.
A woman, from Chinese restaurant Sojo added: "The whole street has been closed off and we have been told nobody is allowed to leave or enter.
"A policeman said the street could be closed for one hour or 10 hours."
