Oxfordshire face a battle to avoid the drop from Division 1 of the BDO Inter-Counties Championship after losing 23-13 to a talented Nottinghamshire team at Hucknall.

There were some notable individual displays for Oxon against the second-placed team, but not enough of them.

After losing the Ladies B match 5-1, Oxon’s Men’s B team put up a sterling show before losing 7-5, Brendan Kearns being man of the match with an average of 26.24.

So Oxon trailed 12-6 overnight, but they were heartened when the in-form Kim Ledbury and Deta Hedman, thanks to a stunning 160 check-out, won the opening two games for the Ladies’ A team. But Notts took the next four games.

In the Men’s A match there were some impressive displays from the visitors.

After Ade Larner took their first point, Preben Krabben came back from 3-0 down to win 4-3, while Keith Bedding took the stage by storm and won 4-2 with an average of 28.20.

However, their man of the match was Sean Holley with his fantastic 29.44 average, which included three 180s.

Kevin Lowe gained the only other point taking out 155 in the last leg with his opponent sat on a double.

For all of these efforts, Oxon are still perilously placed.
