ENDEAVOUR will return to TV screens for at least one more series with filming set to begin in Oxford this summer.
Roger Allam, who plays Detective Inspector Fred Thursday in the series, told the Oxford Mail that ITV has commissioned a fourth series of the drama.
The show features Shaun Evans as Detective Constable Endeavour Morse and its third series concluded last month.
Mr Allam said: "We have just been recommissioned to film the fourth series of Endeavour in May and June this year to go out early next year.
"The Endeavour team all works very well together.
"Shaun and I get on very will and I have known Anton Lesser for years."
Mr Lesser, who recently appeared in the BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall, plays Chief Superintendent Reginald Bright.
Series three of Endeavour ended with a heart-wrenching scene between Morse and DI Thursday's daughter Joan as she ran away from home.
Mr Allam said each 90-minute episode of the Morse prequel took about 23 days to film.
He said: "Of that we spend two to five days in Oxford but we usually stay over while we are there.
"I am enjoying getting to know the city."
