OXFORD United are out of the FA Cup after being defeated by Blackburn Rovers 3-0.

It was United's second full house in the space of three weeks, following the 3-2 third round victory against Swansea City.

They had previously gone almost four years since the Kassam was packed out, when they beat Swindon Town 2-0 in a League Two clash in March 2012.

Oxford Mail:

Barry Wood, assistant manager at the Bullnose Morris pub in Watlington Road, Cowley, was among those preparing for a busy Saturday.

But it wasn't to be and Oxford United lost 0-3 to Blackburn Rovers.

Michael Appleton's side, impressive 3-2 winners over Swansea in the third round earlier this month, were second best for almost all of this afternoon's match.

In fairness to the hosts, they kept going right to the end, and attentions will immediately to turn a potential Wembley trip in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and boosting their Sky Bet League Two promotion hopes at Exeter next weekend.

U's fan Billy Meechan, from Barton, said: "Nothing really came off us today, we struggled to get the ball down and play.

"If we were going to lose a game though today was the one to lose.

"Tuesday is a bigger game but we are quietly confident and have even been organising a possible trip to Wembley.

"It's still a great season for us and it could get even better."

Ben Andrews, from Marston took his seven-year-old son Samuel to today's game and said there were bigger challenges to come.

The 31-year-old said: "It's a shame the cup run has come to end.

Blackburn knew how we would play and were effective against us.

"Kemar Roofe was marked out of the game."

He added: "I feel confident ahead of Tuesday's game and we will of course be at Wembley if they get there.

"It's still exciting times at Oxford United."
