THE manager of a new hotel in Oxford said a member of staff had no intention of misleading the public when she posted a positive review on Facebook.

The Hampton by Hilton at the Kassam Stadium is the international chain’s first in the city after opening on December 14.

But before the £12m hotel opened, Madina Umurzakova – who works on the front desk – posted on Facebook in November what appeared to be a positive review, which said: “The best hotel in Oxford! Outstanding staff and and an excellent service experience.”

The posting led to criticism of the hotel chain, and manager Arun Kumar said he had spoken to the member of staff about the matter.

He added: “Madina is one of our front desk staff and what she wrote was a personal comment, it was not designed to be a review.

“What she wrote was not designed to mislead – it was a personal mistake and I would like to apologise on her behalf.

“We want customer reviews to be genuine and there is no reason why reviews shouldn’t be positive – we are getting lots of bookings and things are going very well.

“I think Madina got a bit excited about the hotel opening.”

The 103-bedroom hotel has been built in Grenoble Road near Oxford United’s stadium, creating 25 full- and part-time jobs.

The hotel is managed by Firoka Ltd, run by former Oxford United chairman Firoz Kassam.
