Police raid Barton flat and arrest two in bid to crackdown on drug supply in Oxford

Ten officers smashed their way through the door of a home in Underhill Circus at about 9am.

Cannabis and Crack cocaine were seized and a 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both from Barton, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply.

The team used a hydraulic vice to wrench the door open, before bursting into the flat and making the arrests.

Barton neighbourhood sergeant Martyn Williams said the raid was a success and that it was part of the force's plan to crackdown on drug supply in the area.

He added: "The operation was well executed and from that we have made two arrests.

"The community has raised their concerns about drugs and this is us answering to that.

"It's never a quick fix, but we are going after the big suppliers of Class A drugs, and that's why we are carrying out operations like this today."

Officers gathered behind the Barton Neighbourhood Centre, before filtering into the front entrance of the flats and making their way up the stairwell.

One officer knocked on the door, but there was no answer, which lead to the joint operations unit using hydraulic force to break the door open.

Once inside officers swept the flat for evidence.

A man and women were escorted from the flats in handcuffs and taken to Abingdon Police Station.
